The Bozeman area of the Gallatin Valley is home to the Missouri River, the Bridger Mountains, and a great deal of history. The Gallatin is well known to famous trappers and mountain men, such as Jim Bridger and Lewis & Clark.
The Gallatin Valley was a prime hunting ground for many Native American tribes before the arrival of English explorers and settlers. It is known as The Valley of the Flowers because of the rich resources in the valley.
More recently the area has become a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. In the wintertime, ski resorts cover the local mountains, all under an hours drive. Summer allows for fishing in the Yellowstone, Gallatin, and Madison rivers. Other activities include hiking, camping, and mountain biking.
The biggest city in the valley is Bozeman, which is home to places such as the Museum of the Rockies, Montana State University, and a beautiful mountain view. MSU-Bozeman has been nationally recognized for its successful research efforts.
The Gallatin Valley is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, less than 100 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.
